Umhlali is situated only a short distance inland from the small coastal holiday village of Salt Rock in the greater Ballito area on the Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. This is still a relatively unspoilt area on the coast not far from Stanger that adjoins a conservancy which includes the mouth of the Umvoti River and a long stretch of beach which is popular with fishermen. The area has remained largely undeveloped except for a new development that has been initiated - namely Blythedale Coastal Resort.
